Investigating the position of Iran's political economy in China's maritime silk road initiative

Abstract
China is seeking a dynamic presence in the high seas and strategic ports of the world in order to become a world power. One of its important initiatives is the "China's Maritime Silk Road Initiative" (MSRI), which has various political, economic, and geopolitical dimensions for China. This sea route, after passing through the Indian Ocean and various ports, will eventually reach the European continent. One of its goals is to "raise the level of development of European and Asian countries" through this initiative, which will be achieved by developing the infrastructure in the "transit countries" and facilitating regional cooperation among them. The key question of this research is: How can Iran's political economy improve in China's maritime silk road plan? The research method is descriptive, using library resources, to express and operationalize the variables through indicators. The research also explains how this "improvement of position" in the field of political economy is possible for Iran. The main hypothesis is that "the increase of Chinese investments and mutual cooperation" in developing Iran's infrastructure, in line with China's MSRI, will improve the position of Iran's political economy for China.
